Daigo, son of the legendary baseball player Gorou Shigeno, feels the weight of surpassing his father's legacy by excelling in the sport. Eager to follow in his father's footsteps, he joins the Mifune Dolphins, his dad's old little league team, in fourth grade. Despite his initial enthusiasm, Daigo's lack of skill and baseball intuition shatter his confidence, leading him to quit within a year. Fast forward to sixth grade, a new classmate named Hikaru transfers in, revealing himself to be the son of Gorou's close friend and baseball star, Toshiya Satou. When Daigo is reluctantly pulled back into the baseball world by his mother for a game with the Dolphins, he encounters Hikaru, who, despite his father's profession, is a novice in the game. Surprisingly, Hikaru's natural talent contrasts with Daigo's struggles, setting the stage for a tale where these two contrasting personalities are drawn into the beloved realm of baseball cherished by their fathers.
