In 1925, during Japan's Taisho era, baseball remains a novelty with few male teams in existence. When a baseball player insists that girls should focus on homemaking over education, 14-year-old Akiko challenges this notion by rallying her friend Koume to form a female baseball team. Amid societal norms deeming even running as too improper for girls, the duo confronts the stereotype that baseball is exclusively for boys. As they strive to recruit members, obtain parental approval, and grapple with the complexities of the sport, Akiko and Koume realize that mastering baseball is far more arduous than they initially anticipated.
