Chihaya Ayase, overshadowed by her accomplished sister, lacks direction until meeting Taichi Mashima, a talented yet insecure classmate pressured by his demanding mother. Their lives take a turn with the arrival of Arata Wataya, a transfer student passionate about karuta, a traditional card game. Inspired by Arata's dedication, Chihaya and Taichi delve into the game, striving to outshine each other. Despite their childhood bond being tested by circumstances, they reunite in high school to pursue competitive karuta alongside new allies and foes, embarking on a journey of self-discovery and relationships.
