Death Billiards
Upon awakening at a mysterious place called Quindecim, two men grapple with memory loss. Guided by a young woman, they are led to a quaint bar where a serious bartender awaits. Unveiled before them is a chilling ultimatum: engage in a game dictated by the fickle hand of roulette with no chance of departure until its resolution. The stakes are high, with dire consequences for non-compliance. Bound by the game's rules, the duo must compete as if their very existence hangs in the balance. The chosen contest, billiards, holds a sinister twist beyond mere sport – a revelation that could alter their fates irrevocably. Notably, Death Billiards stands as one of the select quartet of anime creations awarded 38 million yen each through the 2012 Young Animator Training Project. This initiative, backed by the Japanese government's Agency for Cultural Affairs, allocated substantial funding to nurture budding animators within studios, echoing similar support granted in preceding years.
