In 1950s Japan, Tatsuo Kusakabe moves with his two daughters, Satsuki and Mei, to the countryside near their ailing mother. Amidst adjusting to rural living, Mei stumbles upon a rabbit-like being, leading her to the discovery of Totoro, a colossal forest spirit. As Satsuki also encounters Totoro, the siblings embark on enchanting escapades with woodland wonders, delving into a world brimming with magic and friendship.
