Ikumi, a charming and well-liked college student, comes back home for the summer and crosses paths with Harukiyo Yamabushi, a brooding gardener hired temporarily at his residence. Despite Harukiyo's initial aloofness and attempts to keep his distance, Ikumi gradually uncovers the timid soul beneath the tough exterior. As Harukiyo opens up about his discomfort around suave individuals, a bond blossoms between them.
