Keitarou Gentouga, a freshman in college with a strong aversion to ghosts, finds himself inexplicably connected to the spirit world. Suffering from a past spiritual injury that isolated him from society, Keitarou gradually reenters the social scene with the support of his childhood friend, Eiko Houzuki. Taking on a tutoring job to aid his recovery, Keitarou's first student happens to be Eiko's cousin, Yayoi Houzuki, a gifted youngster with a spiritual affinity akin to his own. While Keitarou aims to assist Yayoi academically, their shared spiritual sensitivity leads them on ghostly adventures orchestrated by Yayoi's desire to reunite with her late mother's spirit. As they delve into haunted locations together, Keitarou's tutoring role takes unexpected turns, pushing him further from his initial job duties.
