In a realm where the deceased are guided to their eternal rest by the Immortal Undertakes, a human-like race, young Leon, a half-breed and the most junior among them, is en route to his ultimate trial when a derailment interrupts his journey. Lost in the woods, he encounters a human girl whom he is compelled to shield, despite their unfamiliarity, especially from his fellow Undertakers who pose a threat.
