In the rugged mountains, two comrades, Gin and Jinrou, forge an unyielding bond. When Gin resolves to seek advancement by enlisting in the Shinsengumi at the capital, they realize their mettle falls short among the enigmatic and formidable individuals there. To Jinrou, many in the Shinsengumi emit an animalistic aura with uncanny powers. Following Gin's untimely demise, Jinrou vows to fortify himself, aspiring to take Gin's place within the Shinsengumi ranks.
