After losing his parents to a tragic murder, the protagonist harnesses his unique abilities to seek vengeance. The original Skull Man, an early anti-hero in manga, was willing to sacrifice the innocent in his pursuit of retribution. This dark allure contributed to the Skull Man's exceptional popularity. Concurrently with the development of the TV series Kamen Rider, Ishinomori, co-creator of the series alongside producer Toru Hirayama, crafted this manga as a personal rendition. Toei Company Ltd. adapted his 100-page one-shot story into the show, although significant alterations were necessary to suit a younger audience due to its excessively grim and sophisticated themes.
