A young orphan girl named Midori finds herself under the care (or rather, servitude) of a traveling carnival of oddities. Among the unusual performers are a mummy, a serpent lady, and a limbless man. The proprietor, Mr. Arashi, rules over this troupe with an iron fist, denying the misfits any semblance of happiness or liberty. Midori, though not a freak herself, toils as a caretaker for the eccentric members of the show, enduring Mr. Arashi's harsh treatment along the way.
