In the beginning, Takao Kasuga, a middle school student, fails a math test but remains unfazed as he immerses himself in reading Beaudelaire's The Flowers of Evil. His day takes a turn for the worse when he impulsively steals Nanako Saeki's gym clothes, the girl he admires. Caught in the act by Nakamura, a troubled classmate, Takao faces a dilemma: confess his wrongdoing or conceal it while pursuing Nanako and navigating Nakamura's blackmail.
