The tale kicks off with the decimation of Qingcheng by a band of martial arts enthusiasts from Wudong, obsessed with attaining ultimate power. To assert dominance, they subjugate rival martial arts factions and eliminate those who resist their authority. Yan Heng, a fledgling swordsman from Qingcheng, is rescued by the 'Wudang Hunter' Jing Lie, who too suffered losses at the hands of Wudong. As the sole survivors of their respective clans, they form an alliance and embark on a vengeful quest.
