Yearning for the urban excitement, Akira Takanashi ventures to vibrant Tokyo only to encounter a rude awakening with the closure of his workplace and dormitory. Stranded, he reaches out to his childhood friend, Chihiro Ooba, who offers him a haven in his opulent abode. Juggling between mooching off Chihiro and aimlessly job hunting, Akira unwittingly becomes the guardian of Chihiro within his affluent family. Grateful for Chihiro's benevolence, Akira vigilantly watches over him, unearthing buried memories and stirring up newfound emotions between the two comrades living under one roof.
