Upon transferring to a new high school, Chihiro Watanuki receives assistance from a fellow student in parking her bicycle. To her surprise, she discovers that this helpful student, Yuuji Yugami, sits next to her in class and is known as the Baseball Club's star player. Despite warnings about his eccentric behavior, Chihiro decides to engage with him, only to find him challenging to communicate with, confirming the rumors. When Chihiro faces trouble with older students, Yugami intervenes, albeit for his own reasons. Intrigued by his complexity, Chihiro resolves to understand him better and enjoy a typical high school experience with her peers.
