After being abandoned by her mother, Aoi Tsubaki possesses the rare ability to see spirits called 'ayakashi.' Raised by her grandfather Shirou, who shared this gift, Aoi learns to coexist peacefully with these supernatural beings. Following her grandfather's sudden death, Aoi, armed with her culinary skills, navigates college life while fending off human-eating ayakashi. In a twist of fate, Aoi finds herself in the Hidden Realm after feeding a hungry ayakashi. There, she discovers that she is indebted to the powerful ogre-god Oodanna and must wed him to settle her grandfather's debt. Refusing this fate, Aoi resolves to clear the debt by opening a restaurant at Oodanna's inn. Through her delectable dishes, Aoi embarks on a journey in Kakuriyo no Yadomeshi to not only repay the debt but also to transform the lives of the ayakashi she encounters.
