Kaname Sudou, a high school student, is introduced to Darwin's Game by a classmate, a mobile game entirely unfamiliar to him. Upon launching the app, a startling event unfolds as a virtual snake emerges, biting him before he blacks out. Awakening in the school infirmary with no physical trace of the attack, he is advised to take the day off. Bewildered yet shrugging it off as a bizarre illusion, Kaname heads home but succumbs to temptation and reopens the app. Initially resembling a typical combat game, his relief is short-lived when his virtual opponent materializes in reality, armed with a lethal intent. Fleeing for his safety, Kaname soon grasps the grim truth: Darwin's Game is not a mere pastime but a ruthless struggle for survival.
