In the mid-1930s, in the outskirts of Hiroshima, resides Suzu, a quiet and somewhat clumsy daydreamer who excels at sketching. At the age of 18, she is married off to a man in Kure, a city with a bustling naval base, amidst the turmoil of the Pacific War. Despite facing numerous challenges and hardships, Suzu discovers moments of joy and tranquility in her new life. The film explores not just Suzu's journey but also delves into the lives of others, hence the new title. Additional scenes from the manga are incorporated, such as Suzu's encounters with Rin in 1944 and 1945, along with a poignant focus on the Makurazaki Typhoon of 1945 and Suzu's concerns for her younger sister, Sumi.
