In a world where Medabots, robots with artificial intelligence powered by special medals, obey their owners, the popular Robbatling sport sees these machines in fierce combat. Aspiring Medafighters aim to qualify for the prestigious World Tournament using their Medabots. When elementary student Ikki Tenryou acquires his first Medabot, the outdated model Metabee, lacking a medal, luck changes when Ikki discovers a medal in a river nearby. However, upon inserting the medal into Metabee, the Medabot's behavior turns erratic, becoming disobedient and hot-tempered towards Ikki. To pursue victory in the World Tournament, Ikki and Metabee must forge an unlikely partnership, overcoming their differences for a shot at championship glory.
