Masaki Tenchi, a seemingly average boy and heir to the Masaki Shrine, unwittingly releases a sealed 'demon' within a small shrine. This act leads him to confront the resurrected Ryoko, the demon, drawing the attention of Ayeka, who arrives on Earth upon learning of Ryoko's return. Thus commences Tenchi's entanglement with the powerful rulers of the galaxy, the Jurai clan.
