Set in the Tohoku forests of northeastern Japan during the 1920s, this fairy tale revolves around a youth named Guskou. Faced with a series of droughts and calamities, Guskou embarks on a journey to seek a brighter future beyond his homeland. His path leads him to the Ihatov Volcano Department, where he collaborates with a team of researchers tackling the very disasters that uprooted him.
