After vanquishing a formidable foe, Gokuu Son and his companions enjoy a tranquil existence on Earth. Meanwhile, the slumbering Beerus, the God of Destruction, awakens in space, driven by a dream about a legendary figure called the Super Saiyan God. Accompanied by his aide, Whis, Beerus sets out to locate this fabled being, eager for a challenging match. Upon discovering the annihilation of the Saiyan homeworld, he seeks out the scattered Saiyan population on Earth, with a keen interest in Gokuu. In a bid to unravel the mystery of the Super Saiyan God, Gokuu and his allies summon the fearsome Shen Long, only to realize the dragon's trepidation towards Beerus.
