In a world where the line between life and death is blurred, a bored shinigami named Ryuk drops a mysterious notebook called the Death Note into the human realm. The notebook's power is as simple as it is terrifying: anyone whose name is written within its pages will die. When the brilliant high school student Light Yagami stumbles upon the Death Note, he is initially skeptical of its abilities.
