As Kaede Azusagawa nears the end of middle school, she faces a crucial decision about her future. Despite the school counselor's advice for her to opt for an online high school due to her reclusive nature and fear of traditional classrooms, Kaede yearns to join Minegahara High School alongside her brother, Sakuta. Seeking a typical high school experience, Kaede implores Sakuta, his girlfriend Mai Sakurajima, and Mai's half-sister Nodoka Toyohama for help in preparing for the entrance exam, to which they wholeheartedly agree. However, as Kaede's dream of a normal high school life unravels, she is forced to confront her deep-seated trauma, ultimately struggling to reconcile her desires for the future.
