Following his release from prison, Yotarou, a reformed yakuza member, forsakes his criminal past for a new pursuit: mastering the art of rakugo, a traditional Japanese comedic storytelling. Enthralled by the performances of renowned rakugo artist Yakumo Yuurakutei, whom he encountered in jail, Yotarou is determined to become his apprentice. Reluctantly, Yakumo agrees to mentor Yotarou, leading to the young man's introduction to Konatsu, a spirited woman under Yakumo's wing since her father Sukeroku Yuurakutei, a rakugo legend, passed away. Despite Konatsu's initial hostility, Yotarou's admiration for Sukeroku's rakugo style ignites a spark within her. As Yotarou delves into the world of rakugo under Yakumo's guidance, the past resurfaces, unraveling intricate relationships and unfulfilled promises from bygone days.
