Seeking freedom from this stress, the 17-year-old moves to Tokyo, where his self-neglect and introverted nature estrange him from peers at school and in the shogi world. His isolated existence takes a turn when he encounters the warm-hearted Kawamoto sisters—Akari, Hinata, and Momo—who run a traditional wagashi shop with their grandfather.
