Based on the Brothers Grimm fairy tale 'The Golden Bird', 'Kin No Tori' follows the story of a stolen golden apple from the King's garden. To uncover the thief, the King tasks his three sons to guard the apples in rotation. When the youngest son, Hansu, produces a feather from the golden bird responsible, the King commands his sons to capture the bird, setting Hansu on a transformative journey. Despite being finished in 1984, this film faced a three-year delay before its eventual theatrical debut.
