Utsunomiko
Born during the tumultuous Jinshin-no-Ran civil war in 762, a child with a tiny horn on his forehead was shunned by his mother who deemed him an oni. Rescued by an elderly shūgenja woman, he was christened Utsunomiko, the 'Divine Child of the Heavens', with his horn representing the convergence of celestial and earthly realms. Raised in the wilderness under the woman's tutelage, Miko delved into the teachings of Shugendō, eventually embarking on journeys to nearby villages. Witnessing the harsh realities of poverty and despair among the villagers, he harnessed his spiritual abilities to aid them. Fueled by indignation towards the selfish rulers and their power games, Miko's dissent culminated in a clash with the Imperial Court, propelling him on a profound odyssey as a defender of the downtrodden.
