However, his mood sours upon hearing praises for Shinichi Chiaki, a rising star from Japan leading the Roux-Marlet Orchestra. Feeling a sense of rivalry towards this fellow 'Black-Haired Noble' in the music scene, Matsuda's emotions are further tested when he finds himself discussing personal matters with Chiaki after a night of drinking, following a recent heartbreak.
