One fateful day, Nanoha Takamachi, an average third-grader cherishing time with loved ones, aids an injured ferret she dreamt of earlier. This ferret, Yuuno Scrya, contacts Nanoha telepathically the next day, seeking her aid to retrieve the scattered dangerous 21 Jewel Seeds. Entrusting her with the magical wand Raising Heart, Yuuno trains Nanoha in magecraft. As they recover some Seeds, they encounter Fate Testarossa, a formidable mage with a mysterious agenda. Despite Fate's strength surpassing Nanoha's, she remains tight-lipped about her motives, leaving Nanoha to sense a hidden sorrow in her gaze.
