Embarking on a journey to the distant Unova region, Ash Ketchum sets off with Pikachu by his side, just like in past adventures. Along the way, he encounters the aspiring trainer Trip and the local Professor Juniper. As his quest unfolds, Ash is joined by Iris, hailing from a Dragon Pokémon-rich town, and Cilan, an expert Connoisseur of Pokémon and one of Straition City Gym's Grass-type leaders.
